Got that call from 425 291 8405 on (MY CELL PHONE)obviously at an inoportune time.
From what I can tell they get these tel nos. from who knows where, people in distress (mortgage or credit cards).
An automated tape Said something about a government pogram to help out.
HOWEVER, WHAT REPUTABLE COMPANY does not even answer when you call back, leave a message or or or..........
I guess it beats talking to some schmuck in India (calling you, I've had that too) fishing for a possible sucker for who knows what
This number is just one of about 30 numbers from the same SCAMMERS. They change the number every so many days. When calling you and when calling back they all have the same voice and message. Don't bother trying to remove your number from the list. They just call with a new forged number a week later.
They called a pay-as-you go cell phone that I have ONLY for emergency contact of a nursing patient. Nobody has EVER been given this number before. I do NOT want any calls unless it is an emergency! I do want to file a formal complaint. Perhaps the good people that put this website together can accumulate sufficient information to do a class action.

What everyone needs to realize is that these scammers/telemarketers are not targeting people directly. Their computers call blocks of numbers, in sequence, of any given area code and exchange. For example, I live in New Jersey. Their first number called, for instance, would be 201-481-1000. Therefore then next would be 1001, then 1002 and so on. If you happen to have 1003, you're obviously next, but it does not mean your being targeted specifically. This is true wether or not it's a landline, contract cell phone or pay-as-you-go cell phone, and it happens whether or not your number is 'listed' or 'unlisted'. Best thing for you to do, if it's possible, is to not answer any calls from numbers you do not recognize. As Mike mentioned above, I doubt if reporting these scammers to a "do not call" list would really matter. Hope this eases your minds about companies "having your number".
They called today and I couldn't answer the phone. Left no message and when I attempted 2X to call back all I got was a busy signal. Googled the # and found it listed here as a spammer.
New cell phone, pre-paid.
Did not answer. Called today, 4/13/2010, no message left.
My new cell phone is a Samsung that lets me block the calling number, as long as I don't delete it from the phone's call list, it seems.
