I talked to three different men with strong india accents who told me that I have a problem with my Windows application. I couldn't understand their English so I hung up. Since there isn't any problems with my computer I figured it was a scam call
Sept. 19 & 20 2013 received call from that #, spoke with three (3) individuals with heavy Indian sub-continent accented English. Obtain access to a shared desktop and left a notepad which reads thus:
"Microsoft internal security registration
2Years:- $129.00 4Years:- $189.00
6Years:- $249.00 Lifetime:- $330.00 Our help desk number: +1 443 552 0777"
As I sternly refused their "service" I was subjected to a tirade of invectives and threats of physical violence, you name it, he used it
Threaten to report me to the FBI, etc. When I ask for the legal rep for the firm he gave the name of Richard Eastwood, no address, phone, e-mail, etc. but a "very busy man" - If he exists! I asked for a supervisor to report this vile support specialist . Spoke to the charming Henry Morrison! I proceeded to excoriate the SOB ...Reported the incident to proper entities & took apropriate steps with ref to the PC.
A person with a strong Indian accent called and said he was a rep for Windows Service Center working for Microsoft. Said he was from the tech support and I had an infected computer. He asked if I was online now and I said no. Got his phone number 443-552-0777 and he said his name was James. I asked him for a web site and he gave me www.worldpcsupports.webs.com. Scared me at first and then realized it was a scam.
Me too...I just received a call from a man with strong Indian accent called himself as James William...same scam - told me my computer sent out an error message to Microsoft and it was very dangerous. He can show me how to remove the dangerous file "online infection". I told him that I have to call him back...googled and found out this site...
He gave me out his 1st contact Phone# 323-433-5334 and quickly gave me 2nd phone contact: 443-552-0777
He also told me that he is calling me from Baltimore, Maryland.
"Susan" told me I had virus infecting my windows pc registered to my home phone. They had my full name. Very bad phone connection & strong Indian accent. When I argued with her "need to access my computer", a male manager came on to calm me down and say it was critical to have this service performed.
Before the manager came on, I asked for phone number & address.
I received 443-552-0777 as her direct line. The street address was hard to understand and when I asked her to spell the street name she repeated the street number 3-4 times. Their address was stated ast "714 xxxxx Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland".
As of today, October 4, you can't report any phone fraud to the federal government because of the shutdown. http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0076-telemarketing-scams
