Received a call from a woman at 8am from a private number. She said she was from Windows, needed to speak w/the owner of the Windows computer because there were dangerous error messages in my zip code and our computer. I told her my husband would need to call her back. She gave the number. When my husband called back, the man who answered wanted the windows customer ID number. My husband tried to explain the previous callers claim, and the man wanted the woman's name. My husband handed me the phone and the man was irate, shouting "what is her name?". He then threatened to report ME to the FBI if I called the number again.

My Mom isnt very computer literate.  We just bought her a nice computer with LOTS of support for her little adventures into the world of computers.  She got a call yesterday from these people.  My sister was there and didnt realize that they had called my Mom rather than my Mom calling them. Luckily they called me because this place was asking for 200 to fix her computer after they accessed it and put a password on it! My Mom was pretty distraught over the whole thing but I had her call Dell support who immediately identified these guys as scammers and cleaned off and locked up her computer.  She has to change all her passwords but it was a lesson well learned.  They are very convincing so warn people that arent very computer literate about this.  They kept claiming her "certifcation" had expired.  Just warn people that arent very computer savvy, it will help with alot of aggrevation.  They gave them this number to call them for instructions 443-552-0077.

Its a Scam!
Looks like they are still at it.....I received a call on January 8th and 9th from two individuals with a heavy accent.  He said my computer was sending a signal to let the Tech guys at Microsoft know my computer was downloading some infected files.  He insisted that I go to my computer and let him talk me through how to fix it.  I had my reservations since my computer wasn't even on!

I explained that he could just give me the instructions, since it was "so easy" to fix myself and when I log back in I would take care of it.  He again insisted that "this is a VERY IMPORTANT CALL and needed to be completed immediately."  I explained that I didn't really believe what he was saying....since my computer had not even been online in weeks......so nothing was downloading from the web.  He continued to insist.......very important call....blah...blah....blah.  Finally he gave me the 443-552-0777 #.  They called back the next day and when they figured out that I was NOT going to even listen to them again....they hung up on me!  DON'T FALL FOR THE SCAM!  I wish someone could catch them before they really hurt someone!
