Just got a call from (458) 201-1740. Caller-ID reports "DNC LOCAL". I did not answer and they did not leave a message. I called the number back with my caller-id blocked. A recorded message answers and essentially states that 'if you don't want them to call you anymore, and if you don't want to be part of their promotions, and if you want to be taken off their call list... press 1 now'. Of course, I did not press 1. No way. I thought that I had added all of our phones to the federal Do Not Call database and kept it all updated so that we wouldn't get these type of calls in the first place. We get spammed every single day and night with these types of calls on landline and cell... from all around the globe, too, judging by the 3rd world cesspit unintelligible accents of most of them. The Do Not Call Registry is a certifiable joke. Clearly, it's not enforced, but it's still gobbling down taxpayer money year after year after year. I wonder what we're really paying for there, other than the overpaid fatass government employees that sit on their duffs all day surfing the internet and not giving a single fark.
I received the same message from this number today at 1:42 pm. At the end, it says "if you don't take advantage of this offer, please let your health provider know." That would perhaps scare a person that didn't know these people are crooks. This cream may be free but I hate to think what the shipping & handling will be!! It could be convincing if you were not called by these crooks all the time, kept abreast of this type of call & don't have a computer to access this site. This one the FTC should get involved in! They imply they are circumventing the process of the FDA with this pain relief cream that replaces your managed pain meds!
I actually thought this was the Democratic National Committee from the "DNC" when I saw that on caller ID.
The DNC Office is funded by user fees paid by telemarketers that are required to register and use the list before making sales calls. It is not taxpayer funded. Enforcement, on the other hand is supposedly included in FCC and FTC budgets. If you are only logging a complaint with the DNC Office, you are not alerting the enforcement agencies. Complaints need to be filed with the FCC, FTC and possibly your State AG to initiate any kind of action. Given budget constraints, it takes a large number of complaints to the enforcement agencies to initiate action. This call has all the hallmarks of medical insurance fraud since no referral by your physician or insurance company was made to these crooks. You may also want to alert your insurance provider and hope their anti-fraud department looks into it.
Called and as others showed DNC Local on caller ID. I didn't answer and they left no message. Using a fake caller ID is the first clue that it is some kind of scam.
