I received a call on my cell phone from number: 214-496-2580. They asked if I was "responding to the lower your credit card interest call" -- I instead asked how they got my number. They hung up immediately.
I received the same call this morning at 10:40am. I pressed 9 to speak to a person, and when he came on the line he asked if I was calling to get lower rates. I said no, I was wanting to know why I am receiving these calls since I am on the Do Not Call list and I do not even have a credit card. He immediately hung up on me.
When I tried to call back, I was given that same disconnected message that someone posted above.
This is the 3rd call I've received like this in just a short time (few months maybe?) each with a different number appearing on the caller ID.
Same as all the above... I pressed 8 to be removed from the list and was told it was an invalid option and the message started all over again. So I pressed 9 to "speak to a representative". Finally connected to someone, at which point she asked if I was calling about my mastercard or visa and I said "Neither, lose this F%^&$#king number and don't EVER call me again! Thank you." and hung up.
This is a TOTAL scam, don't get suckered in by these a-holes!
Last Saturday we took a trip to Progreso Mexico and as we approached the
border the driver tells us that if we have a cell phone over 2 years old to
turn it off as the older phones can be cloned in Mexico and used for bad
purposes (I am thinking huge phone bills and identity theft). The phones
within the last 2 years have software to prevent cloning.
So to put 2 and 2 together, someone cloned a T-mobile wireless number and is now using that number to try and steal identities????????? (Africa???)
