This exact thing happened to my mother today about unpaid taxes on a Sears card! He said the same threats verbatim but just used a different "loan" type.
The guy on the phones story changes at-least 1/2 a dozen times in a 10 minute call.
Claimed I owed $13,000 on a credit card for a bank I never heard of. Then told me it was bought by Chase or "someone" else.
I asked him to fax or email the details to me as I was driving and had no way to write it down He told me to pull over. I was doing 75MPH on I-10 headed to Houston. I told him again to send the info so I could forward to my Attorney and he refused.
Then said that I owed "earned income" taxes on the money to the IRS.
Next e said they had video form an ATM in 2002 showing me using some Government credit card and that was a felony.
Next told me they were going to file a claim against an employer that has been out of business since 2007.
He then hung up on me! I called back and he got real rude and said I hung up on him. I said if I hung up why would I be calling back to which he had no answer.
When I informed him that I was living in Australia from September 2001 to May of 2003 he called me a liar.
Guess the VISA stickers on my Passport are made up.
Then told me he had a copy of my ID and confirmed it was me. When I asked him what ID he was looking at he said "You know". When I asked again he said my Hawaii drivers license. I lived in Hawaii till 1979. Interesting I was to young to drive in Hawaii and NEVER had a Hawaiian Drivers license.
Next he tried to tell me my credit score was a 710. I know this is wrong so I told him I have a 468 to get his answer and he said "I don't know where your getting your info from". So I asked where he was getting it and he told me my tax records. Didn't know tax records had credit scores on them.
At this time he told me my time for a settlement was over and I would spend thousands on legal fees defending myself and hung up on me again.
Called the San Antonio Police Dept to file a report of Identity Theft.
They refereed my to the District Attorneys Office. Going to file a formal complaint with the DA's office.
I have now installed an app on my phone to record ALL phone calls from this number in the future so I can add them to my complaint.
No "STEPHANIE", you probably never did repay any loans. That's one of the reasons that you're now a bogus/fraudulent debt collector. I'm sure that there are other reasons as well. So what's your story "STEPHANIE"? Are you a drunk? An ex-con? A drug addict? Tell us "STEPHANIE", what led you to be such a low person?
