I just received a call from the same number. While the person was talking I typed in the phone number and so happy that you posted the below comments. I think I stumped him when I said that he did not work for an attorney and that I want going to hang up on him.
If you're not the debtor then just don't talk to them. In fact I'd tell 'em that they are nothing but shady debt collectors and that they can go to hell! Don't answer their calls and don't pick up on numbers you don't recognize.
Here I sit and ponder why people who don't pay their bills get so upset over getting phone calls over money they took from legitimate business, notice there is absolutely nothing said about those very people who actually steal. How the laws are so protective over deadbeats who write checks to take money and close their accounts so the REAL VICTIMS in the matter aren't able to recover their stolen funds. Stand on your soapbox debtors, be the martyr and show the next generation how to milk the system for all it's got. Never mind being responsible, and handling your business, that just makes no sense. Pay your bills people.
If you want to reduce the chances of looking like a fool, you might want to *read* the posts in this thread before doing any "pondering". None have indicated they owe the debt in question. Everyone should indeed pay their bills, but NO ONE should just pay any random cretin who phones up and demands money without written verification.
