got this call twice today, didn't know whose number it was. just looked it up because I was curious. the number DOES NOT show up when my phone rings, the caller space is blank.
I happen to be in the Phoenix area. The caller said his name was Jack White (in a very thick Indian sounding accent); he was calling from Gold Coin Department. He said he had 550,000 dollars to give out.
I asked him for his address (119 Sunset Blvd, Phoenix, AZ - no such place) and for his phone number 876-294-7210 - which is also listed on this website as a scam number. I asked him if they are registered to do business in Arizona, he said yes. I asked what the weather was like in Phoenix today. He got kinda agitated and asked why I was asking so many questions. I said it was because I thought he was a scam and he wasn't in Arizona, after a few VERY rude words to me he hung up. Go figure.
Stay away.
Don't know how to classify the call type - scam is not in the list.
This telephone number is from a VoIP call translater/ clearing center for internet phone services such as Skype and Vonage. There is nobody sitting behind a desk with this phone number. Non-subscribers who use the free or trial service do not have phone numbers issued to them, so this outbound number is the substituted ANI. This service could be run by AT&T, QWEST, or any other long distance provider. You will never know who is actually calling you unless you can track down who owns the call clearing center, and you get a warrant That is why international scammers love to use it.
.
Rec'd call this morning. Man with an Indian Accent asked for my husband. When I asked who was calling, he said that my husband and his family is approved for a $1,500 loan. I advised he needed to remove us from his list and disconnected.
It is starting up again - jsut googled the phone number and came with with this site.
I have received at least a dozen calls in the last few days and get the same thing when I call back.
I have called my phone co and put a block on the line coming in. You may want to try this.
got call and when I called back ask for pin....time for the phone company to pay for giving these people the chance to do this...maybe a large fine or class action suit would give them cause to stop these people...
