I received a call from this number tonight and when I tried to do a reverse lookup, nothing came up for the number 480-442-1940. I am on a do not call list as well. I refuse to answer phone calls if I don't know the number calling or if I suspect it to be a telemarketer. Out of curiousity I picked up the phone but said nothing. A man came on using my first name and when he wasn't getting a response he hung up. Next time that number calls me I am going to have a whistle handy and use it as loud as I can when I answer. Maybe a shock and sore eardrum may get the message across that I'm not interested!!
I have received numerous calls from this number and I am listed on the National Do Not Call Registery. They ask for someone else if you answer and it is random names. I do not normally answer, but was getting tired of the harrassment, therefore answered. Told them I am registered and they hang up immediately. Apparently our government does not enforce there registery.
So, telemarketer, I see you have responded to a few of these complaints and find it amusing that people are annoyed by the "robo calls". That is what this is all about, right? Robotized dialing of numbers that will go on without end until they are removed from a data base. And, of course, the sales person answering the phone has no interest whatsoever in granting requests for removal, there is no incentive. Incessant automatic dialing of all the numbers in a huge data base with operators ready to answer only when someone picks up. I bear no grudge against telemarketers in general (everyone has to make a living) but the robo-dialing after someone hears the offer and rejects it is HARASSMENT!
I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! I LOGGED INTO MY BANK ACCOUNT AND I SEE TWO PAYMENTS OF $95 AND $90. SO I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IS A MERCHANT FREEDOM FUND AM ONLY 19! SO I HAD TO BROWSE THROUGH THE WEB AND FINALLY FOUND THEM. I CALL AND TOLD THEM I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS BUSINESS AND HOW THEY KNOW MY DEBIT CARD NUMBER. THMEY SAID THAT I HAD AGREE WITH THEM WHICH I NEVER DID. THEN I SAID I WANT A REFUND AND THE RESPONSE I GOT WAS "SORRY IT'S TOO LATE WE HAVE ALREADY SET UP YOUR WEBSITE. THATS WHEN I LOST MY TEMPER . SOMEBODY GOT TO TAKE ACTION BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE BECOMES A VICTIM.
I recv' an unfamiliar call from this number today, 2/18/11, so I only picked up the phone and a real person/ male asked for Slyvester, which is not me nor anyone in my home; I did not respond but hung up. I blocked my number & called them back to recv' an operator recorded message, "the number you have dialed is not in service".
Complaints can be reported to NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGIS. DIV & Better Business Bureau & Federal Communication Commmision, etc...if it is this Merchant Funding Network or Merchant Freedom Fund.
Been there with a different company. I am so sorry that this has happened to you so soon in life, nevertheless, be encouraged and please do not allow them to steal from you without taking any action.
Explain your situation to upper mgm't at your bank and they have the option of investigating the transaction and/or refunding your money and can also provide you with the business name, address, telephone #., possibly business ID. (The bank will try to defend its release of your money to this company so that they won't have to make the refund).
I've learned to file as many complaints with as many agencies so that there is a paper trail for yourself and hopefully deter or stop the perpetrator from further victimization.
You can file a complaint against the company with your bank, the Better Business Bureau in their State, US Federal Communication Comm., Do Not Call Nat'l Registry, etc.
