A guy with a foreign accent called, said they were a mortgage co, told him I wasnt interested in a refi, he said thats not why he's calling but kept asking for my home loan info, interest rate, loan amount, etc. He said they are a program to make people aware of better rates. Then started again with asking for info so I just hung up.
Other sites have reported that the person calling has a strong accent so I'm figuring this could be just another Indian-based scam. Something similar to the car insurance scams going around. Appears to be some sort of robo-dialing system because he's called people who have no mortgage. Claims to be able to "lower" interest on existing mortgages. Which is not possible. There's no way a third party could do that without buying the underlying existing mortgage and renegotiation it. Total scam.
