After many, many calls from this number, I decided to answer the call. Caller said she was calling from Cancer Centers, they provide supplies for patients all over the US. She was persistent, but I finally got her to understand no. My worry is this number is used for several different groups and the calls won't stop. So annoying.
This robo call went to at least one local resident who complained to us, and said the NWCUA showed up in the caller ID. We are not soliciting funds and would not use robo calls to do so. When I tried to call the number, it disconnected after one ring, on two attempts.
It was a local call for me (Portland area), which made me a little less skeptical than usual (oops). Caller said she was fundraising for cancer supplies and asked for a donation. I was willing to donate a small amount if the organization was legit. I gave her my address (hopefully that wasn't terribly stupid) to send the pledge card in the mail, then she asked if I would instead pay by debit/credit card. I said 'no', please send it in the mail. I Googled NWCUA and 503-207-0623 while we were talking and didn't find any relationship to cancer organizations. I dialed the number she called from to see who would answer, it rang once and then silence. I am not expecting to see a pledge card in the mail anytime soon... and if I do, I will not send any money.
