I have repeatedly received these calls with the same "authentic" sounding person but it's a recording. I have tried to immediately call the number back to ask them to take my name off their list and I get the recording "This number has been disconnected or is no longer in service...etc. Today I reported it to AT&T. Not much help there - they tried to sell me call blocking and then tried to get me to bundle services - cell, phone and satellite! I did get them to tell me they would speak to the back office to see if they would just block this number. I feel like changing my phone number to private/nonpublished but I don't think I should have to go to all that trouble. We pay so many different fees on our phone bills each month-you would think they could block unwanted calls. The Do Not Call list is a joke too! I've registered with it at least 5 different times and still get stupid calls.
We received a call from this number at 8:30 PM and we are in the 225 area code area. Took me several rings to pick up so they did not say anything when I said hello. I think we have received other calls from this number. Wish telemarketers would be outlawed.
Robocall?? telling me a home medical security system was paid for and I needed to make an appointment to have it delivered/installed. We neither ordered nor paid for such system.
This is a recording "cleverly" made to sound like it's a live person; he rustles papers and says "let's see..." like he's checking a list. Then says "It says here" that this medical alert system has been recommended for me, already paid for, and to press 1 to accept the shipment.
I think this is a scam targeting seniors, who may be tricked into pressing 1 by the "authentic" sound of the caller, and then who knows what happens. I also filed a complaint with the National Do Not Call Registry at https://www.donotcall.gov/ and posted this number on RU Scammer at http://www.ruscammer.com/.
This is frightening because if my elderly mother received this call, she would respond to it. It is very, very cleverly done as a person "chatting" to you and it is a robocall. Claims that someone paid for the order and it is already in shipment to you, "just press 1" to accept the medic alert system.
