Got a call and answered it, was a automated message saying I have a summons to appear in court. Called the number back and it didn't ring instead a rude lady answered the phone about a payday loan I had back in 05'. I asked for the company name and mailing address, she told me I couldn't have it and then hung up on me. I called back asked for the company name she said GNA, I asked for the mailing address again she said no I couldn't have it, I then asked if they were a collection agency, she just hung up!!! They won't give you any information sounds fishy to me!!!!
same call you all got. called back no answer and not accepting voice mails. these people need to make an honest living instead of scamming people out of their hard earned money
My attorney confirmed its a scam. I also called my local FBI office to report. Government shut down has put a stop to anyone filing FTC reports at this time. I recommend you call your local law enforcement and FBI to file a report for your own protection. I never had a payday loan so I know it's bunk. They also did not have my SS number. My attorney kept getting hung up on by them. When I gave them 4 last 4 FAKE numbers of my SS number they said " yep that's what we have". I'm not even messing with this crap anymore. I filed my reports and bought a new iPhone last night that lets me block the calls.
if you go online and type in Goldman and associates there are several different businesses. in different states. some say law firms and some say drs. and some say real estate agencies. so who knows who these people are.
I received the same message, "There are 2 charges filed and a warrant has been issued for your arrest and jail time due to 2 outstanding charges. Your rights are to discuss this matter before charges are filed." Left a case number of QP19622 and company name of Phillips & Owen.
I am an attorney in PA and know that in this state all legitimate communications between debt collectors and debtors MUST be in writing with the collectors state issued collectors license number on it, phone calls must be followed up with such a letter. A phone call is not a way to preserve the collectors right to collect, ever; especially without stating their license number. A real debt collector would not threaten to jail time ever because they do not have the right to put you in jail and also because there is no debtors prisons in this country so the threat is bogus.
In PA you have no such right as to discuss criminal matters before charges are filed, if so every murderer, rapist and arsonist would have a chance to discuss wether charges should be filed against them and also have the ability to pay any fine(s) before trial which is ludicrous. The caller also stated that an arrest warrant HAS BEEN ISSUED already, so how could I discuss this matter BEFORE the filing of said warrant?
I will not call them back and if they call me back I will proceed with further legal action against them.
