Caller with thick Indian accent and said he was from CenturyLink calling about customer appreciation month. Asked him whether he was from CenturyLink. He said he was. I asked him why he would call with offers if he was from CenturyLink and why wouldn't CenturyLink just reflect savings in our billling, if he truly was from CenturyLink. He was eager to keep me on the line saying that he has to tell me about this offer in order to give me the savings. I told him that WE WEREN'T INTERESTED IN HIS CALL. I then hung up. What a liar!
"Hello Ma'am I am calling from your phone company" oh really? what phone company is that? took him a second to come up with Century Link. Heavy East Indian accent and very loud call center in the background. I advised that I had reported them to the FTC and Century Link and he hung up pretty quick. This is now the 10th call at least that we have received from these scammers. Century Link fraud department confirms that the callers are not calling from Century Link and are trying to switch your phone service. Unfortunately Century Link will allow other companies to switch your phone service without prior authorization from the account holder unless you put what is called a "pick freeze" on your line. Unfortunately, Century Link will not explain what this entails. The rep actually said "I can't help you with an explanation of what it is or what it costs" so, scammers are pretending to be century link who are also scammers. Good times! Don't bother trying to reach Century Link to make a complaint or report - all they cared about was trying to sell me direct tv (for our office!) and upcharge for this mysterious "pick freeze" nonsense.
