UPDATE: Man with heavy accent breathed into receiver so that what he asked was unintelligible. Following three attempts, I told him so and advised that he call back (hope he doesn't). He's phoned before.
Hello? Can you please connect me to Former Employee? No one here by that name.
Literally, as I hung up the call, another rolled in asking for someone else who hasn't worked here in ages. Magazine drones?
Received three calls in a row from this number. 1) A woman with an accent claimed that a particular manager requested information from their company. This manager relocated to another branch some months ago, so why would she have left this number? The woman asked to be transferred, and I replied that wasn't possible, the manager wasn't internal. Then she wanted voicemail, but we don't put messages into managers' VM systems, plus SHE'S NOT HERE! What about that didn't this woman understand?! 2) Man with accent alleged that a specific IT manager requested info regarding technological advancement. I said he wasn't available and wouldn't transfer to voicemail, so the caller decided to try again later. 3) Young woman with accent asked for a third manager regarding a white paper. I responded that two of her associates had already phoned, what's going on? She said, "That's funny," and hung up.
Caller asked for 2 names who either no longer work here or never did and I told her that specifically. She then tries for a third name and that's when I started asking questions regarding the call. And then she hung up.
Received a call from 510-255-4080...A guy with a thick accent asked for me by name and if I still worked for the company...Said he needed to send me a white paper via fax?? He also was trying to get my email address so he can send by email as well. He said he was with Research Technology and wanted to make sure i had some reference material regarding tax compliance...I asked if this was a marketing/sales call...the guy denied that it was...but after reading these posts...seems as though it is...
