To second Switchboard from first Switchboard -- One of us needs a new handle, and since I was first . . . .

UPDATE:  Man with heavy accent breathed into receiver so that what he asked was unintelligible.  Following three attempts, I told him so and advised that he call back (hope he doesn't).  He's phoned before.

Just got a call that went something like this:
Me: "Hello"
Her: "Is this [my name]"
Me: "This is, yes"
Her: *click*

Called 4 times in 10 minutes. I didn't answer. They let it roll to vm but they don't leave a message. The number they are calling is listed with the Do Not Call Registry. Super-annoying!

I work for a global company with the main office located in NYC. I am curious how is it possible that this amount of HARASSMENT is legal. They call multiple times a  day, EVERY DAY, identifying themselves as different companies.(Doctor's office,citibank, DHL)  There is usually a delay before the person on the other end answers and they will ask for someone who either no longer works for the company or has never worked for the company. Whenever you question them the reason for their call they just hang up and call back a few minutes later. I believe the calls from 818 665 3555, 678 465 7854 are the same Telemarketers/SCAMMERS!
