I don't think this has anything to do with Alameda Social Services when no message is left. Those who say the call is legitimate actually got a call from Alameda Social Services OR are posting to cover the scam. But I don't have any children in the house, and have not interacted with any children alone and I DON'T live in Alameda County and haven't been there for quite awhile. I have been told, but do not know personally, that clever techies can show a different number than that which they care calling from. If not, then someone has access to a line in Alameda County. Called 3 times, 1 minute apart with no message. That is not how an agency works. My rule: if not important enough to leave a message, then not important enough to return the call.
Got two calls right in a row from this number; no message left. After reading all these messages, I tried to call back because I am supposed to report for Jury Duty in two weeks and thought it might be related as I asked to be excused. It was a non-working number from the Count of Alameda.
The number 510-670-8540 is from Alameda Alliance. The person that called asked for me by name and needed some more information from me. When I returned her call I got her answering machine. This is a legit call for me. I have applied for Alameda Alliance. The number shown on caller ID does not accept calls but if they left a message for you they should have left you their direct phone number so you can return the call.
This number popped up twice today, 2/23/2015. 510-670-8540 is still a non-working County of Alameda number. Some worthless idiot does not have enough to do.
