Yeah I just got a call from this phone number a minute ago. I have been getting a call from another number which I googled and found out was a collection agency. They asked to speak to Dan... told them it was a new number for me and I dont know Dan. Then about two hours later this number called me looking for Dan again. Told them the same thing. I don't think they are listening.
I keep getting calls from these guys, like 4-5 a day. They ask for my account information, etc! They said they were a collection department of Wells Fargo and needed my account information to verify my identity. I said that I don't hand that out over the phone, and questioned what it was regaurding. i told her that I read online that she was in a scam. She said that it wasn't a scam and asked for my account information again! I said again that I would not release that information. The lady hung up on me.
I called Wells Fargo and checked my accounts. They are all active and in good standing! The guy at Wells Fargo said that they often get scams like this. Wells Fargo will never ask for your account information or SSN by calling you or e-mailing you. He said that they have this information, so why would they ask you for it again? They know who they are calling. At most they might ask to verify your address or last 4 of your SSN, not the entire thing! He said to watch out and if the calls keep coming to contact the authorities as it is most likely a scam.
I would like to know if anyone has figured out how to block this number, as they call all day!
I just got called too and called back. The lady I spoke to, "Heather," said it was Wells Fargo too and asked for my account info...pretty much the same thing others on here have explained. The funny thing is I don't and have never had anything with Wells Fargo but when I asked what it was regarding, she gave me a name of someone I know has/had an account with Wells Fargo. Now I'm thinking MAYBE these callers may be with Wells Fargo (unlikely) or this person I know talked to them and either gave them my number with their name not knowing this was a potential scam because they were with Wells Fargo (more likely the case). To those of you who have received this call, are you all members of, or have been with, Wells Fargo? Like I said, I'm not and have never been but my call was regarding someone who I know was. If you all are, then there's something where not being told here or something that we're missing.
I read some of the claims that this number is fraud.. However I did have a negative balance at wellsfargo.. ($13)I live in texas now and dont use the bank.. Anyway I never took the call and fixed the problem but if they are not really from wellsfargo I wonder how they new my account was overdrawn.. I think it may be real.. who knows.
I received a few calls from this number and it was a legitimate call from Wells Fargo Visa informing me that my account was over limit and that I had a payment due today. I told them I would not give out my ssn and they looked up my account by my phone number.
