According to a message posted on the VFW web site this is a scam and the VFW is not requesting donations for the Boston bombing victims. Unfortunately there will always be some people that will try and take advantage of people's basic good nature.
Yes, I did get a call, this is the "Nasssau County Veterans Fund Drive". If you call the number you get a message, I do not know if it is 100% legit, if I find out I will update this message board.
When you google the number & this site pops up first in the search results (along with other similar sites, but none that point to a real business), you know it's a scammer!
I receive at least 1 or 2 calls a day from this company. Everytime I answer the phone there seems to be no one on the line. I find these phone calls very irritating. As for my daughter who was home by herself for a few days, these call became quite frightful. I don't know what to do about them and really wish they would stop.
