According to a message posted on the VFW web site this is a scam and the VFW is not requesting donations for the Boston bombing victims. Unfortunately there will always be some people that will try and take advantage of people's basic good nature.
I received a call from this number. I seriously doubt it is NCVFD. Especially since I don't even live in Nassau.Besides I find the use of the telephone prefix 900 to be suspicious alone.
Keep in mind that charities are exempt from the do not call registry. But the calls must come directly from the charity and not a third party service.
I am suspicious of any alleged charity that calls. If I want to make a donation, I will go to them and not the other way around.
Yet another call from this alleged charity. I mentioned here previously that I am suspicious of any alleged charity that calls. I believe far too many people setup bogus operations as a charity in order to get around the do not call registry and steal money from innocent people.
