"Benchmark Polling" is who answers this number, with a humanoid voice saying only "Benchmark Polling" and then a warning that one needs to speak immediately, then "goodbye". 518 is Albany, capital of the state I live in, which voted heavily in the last election, and has some strong views. But the election is over and I got calls from here, late afternoon 20 December, well past elections or the point of opinions mattering. So, between the ambiguous (generic) caller ID - "benchmark polling" is a thriving field, not a specific identifiable company - and strange voicemail, I'd imagine this on the seedy side. Of course I'm on DNC lists (and on the job for government too) so dislike dishonest intrusions, but if they're actually doing polling and have some legit cover, they may slide past DNC - as do political interests. (How's that drainy-swampy cleanup going?) Would be nice to eliminate robo-calling and political intrusions, along with all unwanted phone spam, if only the phone companies would allow it (now stalling for a year plus) and if all consumer protections to date don't get decimated. Consumers - eyes open!
