Ok people. They are a total scam.. They called me last month from a different number. I must have called them back 4-5 times telling them that I wanted to know the "charges" against me and to have them fax them over so I could have any Attorney look over them and see what could be done to solve the matter. They refused to give me anything and said I would be going to "Jail" in the morning. Needless to say, that did not happen of course! I also told them at that time that I had contacted the FBI and the California State Attorney Generals Office. The calls then stopped that day. They have called me 3 times so far this morning. I have already reported it to my local police department. I also called the Lake Tahoe, CA Police too. They informed me that I needed to make a report with local law enforcement and that the local police will contact them. I think we should all make some type of group effort to put these people out of business. What they are doing to us all is not only ILLEGAL, but immoral too! From some of the post I have read, some of you are really scared. Don't be. You can always contact your bank to make sure that you do not have any unauthorized charges. I went as far as closing my account and getting a new account number. Which gives me peace of mind. We should all start calling them at the same time and let them know we are not going to be intimidated by them. Demand they fax us LEGAL paperwork and so on!!
No, they cannot serve you or show up at your job. This is only a scare tactic. Yesterday, I received a voice mail on my phone from a "Michael Carter" from this number with a request to call him back. Since I was at work, I did not return the call. I did call the number when I arrived home last night. After several attempts (phone rang and then would hang up), I was able to reach a man who identified himself as "Kevin Peterson". I asked for "Michael Carter". When he answered the phone, I identified myself and demanded to know what he wanted. I was very angry. He began stuttering and said that he did not call me. I then said how would I know his name and this number to call back? He had no answer. I advised him that I had reported him to the proper authorities (and I really did). He started apologizing about it being a mistake and hung up. This is a total scam.
If its a scam why are they not asking for money. Its like they dont want to solve the matter. They said my local authorities will be coming to my office. No payment is necessary it will be handled in court. Show whats the scare tactic if they dont ask for money. It makes not sense
The caller left me a message on my work VM to call them at the 530-208-1004.. told me i had 3 charges against me, had all my personal information, wanted my attorneys name and #. Then told me that i was to report to court tomorrow at 11:00 am. When I questioned that I had no paperwork, I was told that the County Sheriffs Office would be coming to my job to serve me papers...
Received a call on my cell today from John Morrison at that number; told me was a time sensitive matter; I let my phone go to voicemail as I did not recogniz the number. I do not owe any payday loan people; I did take some out a few months ago but I checked my bank statements and verified with them all that they were paid back - have verbal and written authorization that they were paid. Evidently they can get your SS#, bank name, etc. from a third party. I have notified the FTC, BBB, the Arizona and California Attorney Generals, my local police and my local FBI (the FBI laughed when I told them that they told me they were going to them to process my paperwork - told me to tell them when they called back, Good Luck as people cannot be arrested and jailed for non-payment of a payday loan - they need to send it in writing!
