I spoke with this Indian man who told me there was a lawsuit against me. He has been calling my job non stop for months and finally I told him I was filing for bankrupcy - he didn't understand. HELLO!! Then I told him it was illegal to call me if I tell him I can't get personal calls at work. He called again and again. He actually yelled at me to stop hanging up on him and that after I took his number and my "case #" down yesterday that I would call him back today - ha! NO!! Then he tried to get my "home" number (thankfully I changed it recently) and I said sorry don't have one. Good to know this is a scam - how horrible if some elderly or other vulnerable person was to get a call like this and get scammed! Thanks everyone for posting!! Unfortunately I don't think reporting it will do any good since they are probably in India!
I just got one of them to start talking by insulting him. I told him to go it a steak and the Pakistan would get them, that one got his attention! I asked him if he know they were trying to steal peoples money, and he simply said "Yes!". Then we exchanged words for awhile and he told me we are "Stupid F@#$ing Americans" and that they scam over 10,000 dollars a day from for the US and England.
DO NOT GIVE YOUR INFORMATION TO THEM! If they sound Indian, or if it sounds like they are reading a script, just hang up. They like saying they are from the department of law investigations. Just listen to what they say you can tell it is fake. If you give them your account info, no one can help you, and it will not be fraud cause you authorized them to do it.
Just ask for account information if they can provide with info, or all the info, they are fact. If it is a legitamate company they will have the right info. They have to follow the FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT (FDCPA). They cant threaten you with police or any of the stuff they are doing. They will be abusive toward Women, I suggest hanging up. Then call them back and harrass them they will block your number eventually, usually takes about 5 good phone calls. They stopped calling me, but they still call my girlfriend. So it seems a man calling and harrassing them gets them to stop, but it doesnt work when she calls they actually call more, now. But they will change numbers and continue to call so either hanging up or harrass them back. JUST DONT GIVE THEM MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They change numbers every week or so, longest I have seen them keep a number is about 2 weeks. That is why post the number is important. Complaints are getting their pre-paid phones disconnected, I think. If you get a call from an Indian person threatening you with legal action or the police post their number here so more people dont lose money. The FTC cannot do anything because they are on foreign soil, so this is the best way we can help each other. They know nothing can be done from here, and the guy I was agruing with stated that.
THIS IS A SCAM. Scammers pretend to be law enforcement (police, sheriff, Feds, AG's Office, fake cop agencies with made-up names) and using bought/hacked loan application data to extort money for fictitious crimes or your personal ID.
