I received a phone call from a man with a Indian accent who claimed to be calling from the IRS Investigations Bureau in San Francisco, California. He said that I had a legal allegation against me and that I had to call his senior officer Kevin Peterson immediately at the number 530 289 6409 regarding my case number CRI1624. He said that they would not mail anything and he insisted I needed to call right now to the number. When I called there was only a loud beep. Then I called the real IRS and interestingly enough their voicemail said that all IRS offices were closed. I heard someyhing similar on news because of the government shutdown. So this sounds like a scam. Especially because I have no current irs issues.
SCAM, SCAM SCAM!!!!!
The IRS does not contact by phone! they have been calling all the time, so i finally pickedup. Was told this was an urgent IRS matter and was to call Mr. Peterson immediatey at the same number call came in on. Voice was clearly a person from India....Just another scam to scare people. I feel bad for anyone who gives them personal information. DO NOT ANSWER THE CALL FROM THIS NUMBER AND DO NOT CALL THEM BACK OR GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION!!! THE IRS WOULD ALREADY HAVE EVERYTHING ON FILE ABOUT YOU!!
10/7 I received a phone call from the same Indian guy. I am so glad I was able to find this review page before I called. The number is: 530-289-8060 Alex Marshall. It is urgent that I return the call today. I called the IRS as well and they are shut down. It doesn't matter if you owe taxes or not this is a SCAM! Everybody be aware of the disgusting lunatics who are trying to steal our info and scare the hell out of us.
It is pretty scary that this is someone's Job.
Got a voicemail from 530-289-6409 over the weekend from Chris Brown. I saved the message because it is hilarious! He claimed to be from the IRS (I think). It took me at least 5 attempts to even understand the phone number he left. Talk about a STRONG Indian accent. Tried to call back but all I got was a BEEP.
