I received a phone call from a man with a Indian accent who claimed to be calling from the IRS Investigations Bureau in San Francisco, California. He said that I had a legal allegation against me and that I had to call his senior officer Kevin Peterson immediately at the number 530 289 6409 regarding my case number CRI1624. He said that they would not mail anything and he insisted I needed to call right now to the number. When I called there was only a loud beep. Then I called the real IRS and interestingly enough their voicemail said that all IRS offices were closed. I heard someyhing similar on news because of the government shutdown. So this sounds like a scam. Especially because I have no current irs issues.
I got the same deal. guy said his name was Chris Lopez. I hope these people get arrested for impersonating IRS officials & threatening & trying to extort money.
We just got 2 voice mails for the exact same thing - demanding we call immediately, not to ignore this call. I had to listen to the first message 5 times to understand all the words - I thought he said Mac Miller but I guess it could have been John Miller. Same phone number - 530-289-6409. I didn't return the calls - we've owed the IRS in the past and they don't make threatening calls, and they do identify themselves with ID number. And plus the IRS is still shut down so they clearly don't listen to the news.
Just received a call from Steven at the IRS, on my voicemail. Thank heavens for Google Search and 800notes.com - I was able to check the number (530-289-6409) and found many other people have reported this as a scam. I wasn't going to call him back anyway until I received something in the mail. This guy has a strong Indian accent and was very threatening.
