I received a phone call from a man with a Indian accent who claimed to be calling from the IRS Investigations Bureau in San Francisco, California. He said that I had a legal allegation against me and that I had to call his senior officer Kevin Peterson immediately at the number 530 289 6409 regarding my case number CRI1624. He said that they would not mail anything and he insisted I needed to call right now to the number. When I called there was only a loud beep. Then I called the real IRS and interestingly enough their voicemail said that all IRS offices were closed. I heard someyhing similar on news because of the government shutdown. So this sounds like a scam. Especially because I have no current irs issues.
I have been getting the same call from a John Miller with an Indian accent over and over asking that I call this number. As stated the IRS is currently closed due to the shutdown and the IRS sends issues via the postal service and does not call you typically and they would have an 800#. I am not calling him back as it seems like a definite scam to me. I will be contacting the IRS once they reopen.
Some guy who can barely speak English is leaving me a message that he is from the IRS, what a bunch of scum bags. Sadly, these are the type of jerk offs that trap senior citizens.
Tried to call the IRS and FTC to report these fools, but of course bigger fools are at work in the government, because all IRS and FTC offices are closed due to a lack of funding.
The same exact thing just happened to me! The man said I was being sued by the IRS for backed taxes owed. I don't owe any I told him. I asked if this was the real IRS and he told me I could speak to the sheriff when he shows up at my door!
I managed to get an email response from the IRS. This is a scam. I also emailed the Treasury Inspector General's complaint email address per the IRS. They said the IRS is working to close them down.

JUST TELL THEM THAT U ARE NOT STUPID TO BELIEVE THEM THAT THEY ARE IRS AGENTS. SO FAR THESE ARE THE 2 TELEPHONE NUMBERS THEY USED TO CALL ME 530-289-6409 AND 530-238-5813. BUT IF YOU HAVE TIME TO SPARE PLAY ALONG WITH THEIR STUPID GAMES JUST PRETEND THAT U BELIEVE WHAT THEY ARE SAYING AND GIVE THEM A FAKE NAME AND TELEPHONE NUMBER IF THEY WILL ASK U. THIS IS WHAT IM DOING RIGHT NOW TO PISS THEM OFF! LOL!!!
