I re-dialed the 530 number just because I was curious (I realize that the IRS does not conduct business this way). I got the same guy - heavy Indian (?) accent - who left the message. He said a warrant was being issued for my arrest for under-reporting my income. I laughed and he said "the officers are on their way" then he hung up. Very bizarre. He said he worked for the Justice Department. I'm guessing that if I had shown any concern, he would have told me we could "settle up" by supplying a credit card number!!
Got repeated calls today of a recording claim it was my second notice and I was to contact them at 213-293-3720. It also said the person to talk was Steve Martin.
Received a call yesterday from 530-419-3982, left a message about Treasurey action and possible grand jury issue if I didn't call back 213-293-3920. Identified himself as Steve Modern. Never pick up a call I don't recognize. Reported to IRS.
I received three calls yesterday from Scott who had an Indian at this number. First two messages said that it was a government offense if I did not respond to the call and could result in jail time. Third time he called he left a different number. That call never seemed to end. The message just kept repeating itself. After hearing that same message about three or four times I stopped the message from playing.
Got the same Indian accent man telling me I need to contact (213)293 3920. After the 4th call I just called it.in an attempt to end this obvious scam and number doesn't work so seems as if they have moved on to a new number and probably a new scam
