•If you owe federal taxes, or think you might owe taxes, hang up and call the IRS at 800-829-1040. IRS workers can help you with your payment questions.
•If you don’t owe taxes, call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.
p.s. They use Magic Jack and keep changing their phone number so blocking will not really help. Though I would be very interested to find out how they got our phone number and other details. By the looks of it, there are tens of people working on this scam (you can hear several folks in the background) so it is definitely semi-organized crime.
530-876-6477 is a phone scam. You can get back at them. Here's how. Simply dial *67 then the 530 number. This will make your own telephone # completely anonymous. After that have as much fun with him as you want. I did. He was so pissed he even called himself a "sand [***]". I dialed back several times but it went to voicemail w/o being able to leave more sweet messages. I'll keep trying. FYI, he will pick up the call identifying himself as an IRS agent but it's really easy to rattle him. Hey, the more people that call him more he can't do his thieving business. Spread the word.
