Received same heavily accented voice left message on answering machine saying he, Allen Cooper, is attorney of record threatening legal action from IRS issue. We are reporting to FTC...subject IRS telephone scam call. Have received more than one call...we do not answer. Call came from same 530-876-6477 number.
This man called cussing me out after ignoring his calls multiple times. The man who called had a slight Indian accent, did not tell me what his purpose for the call was. Ignore and watch out for this number...he's a complete scammer.
Got the same threatening call from this heavily accented Indian guy, Allen Cooper. Left message threatening legal actions, sounded out of breath, hard to understand. Once he said his name was Allen Cooper I knew it was a scam. People beware!
This is a scam known to the IRS as "IRS Telephone Scam". See http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Warns-of-Pervasive-Telephone-Scam. Same as many reports from others: heavily accented Indian/African man (with very western name of Alan Cooper) called claiming to be from IRS, Yuba City, CA office. Accent so strong I had to ask him to repeat almost everything, at least 3 or 4 times. Gave me his phone number, extension, and badge number. Said he was calling re: a "deficiency" in our income tax return. When I asked if I would be receiving something in the mail re: this he said "Oh, you haven't received anything? Then you need to talk to Mike Anderson at ext. 8492." I asked to be transferred, but Mike was in a meeting. Right. After I hung up, I immediately called the number he gave me, got an automated message that said "Thank you for calling the IRS. We are busy or possibly gone for the day or on a call. Leave us a message." Yeah, totally the voice mail message you expect the IRS to have.
Voice message from 5308766477 with India accent claiming someone named Albert White from IRS. He said he's doing some investigation and asked to return his call as soon as possible before he file the allegation. I dialed the number back. Someone answered and asked the case number and phone number. Then the phone transferred and Albert White identified himself as a senior officer of IRS. He said:"Do you know you have serious allegation on your tax return?" I said no. He raised his voice and said something endless. I interrupted him by asking him to send some written notice. He hung up. After I searched websites, I realized 530-876-6477 is a phone scam.
