I have a pickup listed on Craigs list in Tucson and just got the exact scripted message to call the exact number in a message in voice mail. (Prefaced by "Hi, this is Jim". My phone doesn't show having received any call. (Usually that is a message from another mail box from within voice mail).. It sure looks like the object is to get us to call them.. I wonder if this is a way to get around the do not call list.. (If we call them, can't they then call us?) Definately smells wrong.
I recieved this same call from "Jim" on Tuesday 2-5, it comes through as a UNKNOWN call, the red flag for me was he wanted me to call him back about the car I am selling, that's was the problem, I don't have or ever had a car for sale, I do have some atv tires for sale on CL but no car, I did a whitepages.com search and the number is from Roanoke, Va. to say the least after I found this site I'm more freaked out now then I was then, but like everybody else has been saying, the message just didn't seem right, I would like to find out what this is all about though, if anybody finds out what this is all about please post it here, Thanks.
I got the same message today. I just put my truck on autotrader and he said "Hi my name is Jim, I've got a few questions about your vehicle, give me a call back at 540-527-1516". I called all day thinking he wanted to buy it, and i got a busy signal. and when i did get through, a lady answered and said he was talking to an important person. Oh, and it was listed as Unknown when he called.
Just got the same call about my Axiom... BUT I didn't return the call from my cell, tried to return it from my work phone, which is scrambled thus "Jim" wouldn't be able to find the number...
I have a vehicle advertised on autotrader and like everyone else, "Jim" called and left me a message saying that he is interested in my vehicle. I probably live the closest to Roanoke, VA so I'll see what I can do to nail the possible "scammer".
