got a call on my answering machine from George Stegler (sp?) from Oxford Management. He left his number as 800 729-4560, x463. My caller ID said Oxford Management, (507) 504-7973. He said that he was calling about an outstanding bank loan in the amount of 21 or 22,000 from 1992. I have no loans except a current mortgage. While I did not have an account from that specific bank in 1992, I do now and when I called, they said they have no outstanding loan for me from 1992. The first thing this person asked me was to verify the last 4 digits of my social security. When I wouldn't do that, he then told me the last 4 digits of a social that was not mine. He then asked me to confirm my maiden name and when I would not do it, he gave me a name that was unknown to me. Before the call was over, he gave me the name and full social security number of the person whom he said was matched to a loan in my name with my address. He had my correct address and full name. He then said that perhaps there was a mix up and somehow this outstanding 1992 loan was attached to my name and that he would fix it. When I would not give him personal information he said that someone might be using my identity and that he was trying to help me. He then advised me to check my credit. I want to emphasize that my bank assured me that they had no record of any loan and that they have no business relationship with this agency. Is this a scam, was he trying to get personal information from me, or was this just an honest mistake? If it was an honest mistake, what was the source of it? I'm wondering if should report this to the attorney general's office.
they called around 9am this morning, for the first time. Im glad i came on this website, I could not understand the message and i thought he said Oxford MEDICAL services, and after said that it was urgent and very important that i contact them. Freaked me out! When i came on the computer i researched the # and found this site, Glad to see other issues with the number, thank you.
they called supposedly knowing info about me. My residency adress, but still they asked for my birthday and then my social security number. Feel something wrong was going on?
