These clowns call several times a week, almost every week. Always at dinner time. The last time, my wife answered the phone and they asked for me by name, as they wanted to thank me for my "previous donations." She politely asked, "Whom may I ask is calling?" and was summarily treated to the caller bursting into maniacal laughter for several seconds before hanging up on her.
This guy wanted to talk to my wife and thank her, was she home? She wasn't and I asked to take a message. The man said he would call back, but I insisted for a name and stae his business. He said his name was 'Bob' but that his business was with her not me, he would call back.
Again I insisted and added, that he was not to call this number again. He said 'OH MY!' how will I thank her then. I replied, I'll pass the message to her. BUt he responded how can you do that, if you don't know what I'm thanking her for. So I said, enough of these games....you tell me the message, who you are, your company name OR hang up and never call this number again. He again started to 'babble on' about needing to only speak to her, so interrupted him, said "never call this number again,, goodbye'
You are right about the 20% deal. It says so in their registration charter with the State. This is the new telemarketing scam: Create a non-profit fundraising organization that has some traction with the public and the potential to raise millions of tax-free dollars. Charge off 80% of the money raised to "administration, public education, etc" and you now have a legitimate tax free cash flow of millions and are also exempt from commercial telemarketing laws including the DNC List. Remember the "faith-based initiatives" rule under the Bush Administration? A lot of the money raised for those good causes actually went to to fund campaigns of Right Wing Republicans running for office. This also hurt long time charitable fund raising activity by organizations like The Salvation Army that uses volunteers instead of paid telemarketeers. 90% of the money raised goes directly to the poor and homeless that they serve.
Same Narcotics Officers of PA call. this is third time in 5 days even though I told them I don't contribute to any org that solicits via phone call. Called Sept 14 at 8:17 PM EDT
