This is the fifth time this month!
I answered the first time because it is in the same area code where my relatives live. Was immediately informed that it was some non-profit organization (exempt from DNC law)that supported training etc for Narcotics Enforcement Officers in Pennsylvania(yea sure!) and that I had contributed $xx last year so could I match it this year. I informed then that I NEVER contribute to an organization that uses telemarketer tactics for fund raising--especially if I never heard of them. At that point they tried to sell me on how much "good" this organization is doing for PA Narcotic Officers. I hung up. a few days later I was called again, then again, then again, then again.
Sad part about these professional fundraisers is that they only give 20% of what they actually collect to the organization they "support" 80% goes for administration and to pay the "fleecers" who call you. To add insult to injury, they are exempt from the DNC law and get special tax exemptions on their income because they are working on behalf of a non-profit organization. Contrast this with organizations like The Salvation Army that relies on volunteers to raise funds so that 90% of the money raised goes directly to those whom they help.
Next time you get a call from a professional fundraiser on behalf of an organization you want to support, tell them "thanks for the reminder. I am mailing my check directly to the director of that organization since I know he/she will put it to good use"
Thank you for this very useful information. If enough of us take the time to get the word out we may eventually put an end to this nonsense. Come to think of it...we ought to start our own non-profit solicitation. We could call it the Phone Abuse Victims Protection Association (PAVPA)We combat abusive telemarketers who operate just inside the law. Our mission is to develop a software program that not only detects all of the numbers we complain about on this site, but on the second call sends a command to their robocall or telemarketing machine and summarily erases all their files. I bet we could raise millions of tax exempt dollars in support of this effort ;-)),

Seven times so far this month.
I do not answer nor do they ever leave a message. I do have phone records of every call they made to me with date and time stamp. There has got to be a place we can all report these abusive calls even if they are exempt from the DNC regs. How fmany times are we supposed to inform the SOB's that we do not support these bogus non-profits and do not want to be called again.
I never answer my phone when this number shows up. All they say on their messages are "hello, hello, hello, hello, hello." It's is very weird! They call 3 to 5 times everyday, and right up until 9:00pm!
