I too got a call from this number and there was no message left on my machine . When I dialed the number back it was answered as A.D.A. (American Diabetes Assoc.) . After listening to the entire (very short) message I was given the option to opt out of any future calls from the A.D.A.I choose that option . Hope this helps .
Anyone who posts on these boards that this IS the American Diabetes Association is probably a shill for the scammers. I have seen no verifiable info that this is indeed charity related, only posts on these boards make this assertion.
Thanks for the research on ADA telemarketers, and ADA itself.
Although the admin: program ratio is not too shabby on the surface, I concur with wondering so what is their program? And, $400,000 a year could cover ten full time staff in some non-profits I know.
Thank you, Dave- I just called and also opted out. It is commendible that they have the option, but would be more so if their name showed on Caller ID. That is a terrible yield cited for donations. I always tell charities that call that we never give money to callers, and if they are already among our favorites we will take them off our donation list for a year; call again and I'll make it two years. I resent them calling when I have deliberately NOT provided a phone number. To go out of their way to ignore my preferences is a little slimy.
Unfortunately, the cause is a good one. The calls, however, are irritating and out of line. Am wondering how much the American Diabetes Association is going to suffer because of the lack of judgment of the people who put together this messed up promotion. Very unfortunate!
