I just got a call from that same number but he said he was Officer Eric Foster...unfortunately I can't understand half of what he says but he says to call back immediately or they will be unable to help me. This was on my answer machine since I do not answer calls that are unidentified.
Yep, we're sure. The Indian frauds have gotten a little more crafty lately. They finally figured out that trying to spoof a DC area code wasn't working for them anymore. So they're trying others. They still can't figure out that we know the IRS does NOT initiate calls. EVER! The IRS uses the good old United States Postal Service. The only way you'll receive a call from the IRS is if you call them first. Even if the IRS does want to hear from you, you will find out about it through the mail. If they REALLY want to hear from you the mail will be certified. If they want to prosecute you for anything a federal agent will be at your door. And he will NOT have called first!
Be Safe. Be Aware.

6/25/14 AT 11:25 I RECEIVED A CALL FROM A PERSON NAMED ERICK FOSTER WITH A INDIAN ACCENT
SAYING HE WAS FROM IRS AND I NEED TO CALL HIM BACK AT 571-286-3108 OTHER WISE I WOULD BE ARRESTED.
I KNOW FOR FACT THAT I DO NOT OWN ANY MONEY TO IRS, PLUS MY FRIEND TOLD ME THIS IS A SCAM BECAUSE THEY DID THE SAME WITH HER.
Moments after you were called, my daughter in Vermont received the SAME message on her phone and called them back. I can't tell you how upsetting it is to learn she was so frightened by these fraudsters, but she didn't give them any credit card information... she DID go directly to the local police department and report the call... figuring if she was going to be arrested by the IRS, they could do so there. The police chief assured her that NOTHING was going to happen to her and that it was a scam. The ONLY thing she lost was her time... and a bit of her innocence. Not her freedom, her identity or her money.
