Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
Today my wife received a call on her cell phone from 571-932-2012.
She was not able to answer, and they left a message: "There are 5 tax fraud counts against you and there is warrant out for your arrest." The message asked her to call 571-932-2012 in response.
I called the number from a work phone that I wasn't particularly worried about. Here is the conversation:
Phone answers: "IRS Collections."
Me: "Hi, my wife got a call from this number. What is your IRS ID Number?"
Foreign sounding (East Indian, I think) male voice: "My IRS Agent ID Number is 0224851."
Me: "I was looking online and this number you asked my wife to call is listed as a scam. What do you have to say about that?"
Scammer left message claiming to be IRS Tax Fraud Bureau. Says arrest warrants have been issued with five criminal charges being filed immediately in Federal Court. Left call back number--571 932-2012. Male voice speaking with foreign accent.
