Either contact your telecommunications provider for assistance with blocking the calls or invest in a device which can be programmed to automatically reject unwanted calls. We subscribe to a call blocking service through our ISP--and it is worth EVERY penny.

I've participated in phone canvassing for the Democratic party. It is never done the way you described. Democrats are instructed to identify the party and on who's behalf they are making the call. Also, in almost all cases, both parties use professional firms to do their surveys. And, if you ask surveyors to identify who they are calling for, they are bound by law to tell you. Are you sure the call wasn't from the Republican campaign, using reverse psychology, to get you to dislike the opponent? Hmm! I wonder. Or, the call just might be part of a scam that we haven't figured out, yet.
