Daniel Ball is still at it: 956) 335-5267 Thankfully, I haven't called him and only email but randomly decided to google his number. http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/apa/5988927236.html That's the ad he has on Craigslist.
This guy is now renting out a family home in Pittsburgh for way cheap. A friend of mine was looking at it and the posting on Craigslist had several red flags which made me do a bit of googling on her behalf. First thing I googled was the phone number and lo and behold, @ladyleen's comment seems to be the same thing I suspected him of doing in his current ad.
He claims to have the place in Pittsburgh but he lives in Philly, so naturally he can't show the place. But if you send a rental application with all your information (enough to steal your identity) he'll be happy to continue with the process.
He's doing the same thing with a "condo" in Richmond, VA (http://richmond.craigslist.org/apa/5179282010.html). Also says he works in Philly. Can't show the place, but wants to send a rental application to collect all your details.
Guy calling himself Daniel Ball is running ads for rentals in DC. Checked the owner of the property address he gave using the DC tax records, and it was not Daniel Ball. He's a scammer hoping to get your details or even get you to send him money for nothing.
SCAM! I searched Craigslist and found the renting for $600/1br-750ft2- 1401 Q St NW #T-2 (Washington, DC) on 12/2/2015, and got his email back with this phone number, stated he is with family-wife and daughter named Elena (20 yrs) who attends Kona University as a medical student in kamuela,HI, work as a Robotic Programmer & Welder/Fitter. Ask me to respond to get the rental application. This is the 3rd different phone numbers/emails I had experienced from Craigslist since November 2015. I feel weired and google search and found these reviews. Don't send money before you can visit the renting place. Be careful, it's a SCAM.
The University does not seem to be located in that city. Renting a house off a Craigslist will usually result in your being taken. They use pictures of houses they don't own, collect rent, and in the end you get in trouble and are out the money as well. If you cannot meet the person at the property and have them show it to you, walk away. And even if they do, search county property records (most are online) and verify who the owner is before signing anything.
