9/29/13- Note: I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S-4 with a C-Spire contract renewal, and this is the second call like this I've received. The first was from something called "Lucky Talk," which I think was a dating/sex-talk service. Anyway, this call was from a different number, but was basically the same thing: Rang 3 times. I called it back and it was a message saying that if I was calling about a "United States prescription drug card" I should stay on the line because they were experiencing a high call volume. Obviously a scam, but odd it came from a Mississippi number, since that is where I live.
I was under the impression that telemarketers were not allowed to call on weekends - especially Sundays! I am sick and tired of the way in which telemarketers are skirting around the laws, as well as the Nstional Do Not Call registery of which I am a member. What is up with this??
Your caller is a scammer. Scofflaws do not abide by any laws so don't expect them to honor the requests of those on a no call list. There is no federal law against a telemarketer calling anyone, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and between 8am-9pm. Go to the FTC/DNC site and read.
