Unfortunately the DNCR gas a loophole that allows organization such as this to call people. My gripe is that I believe this allows people to setup fake charities in order to get around the DNCR.
FYI.....I am also an "old coot" and am infuriated by the constant number of phone by crooks who want to get your money. I volunteer and must take some calls without a known caller ID. This leaves my number wide open to scam phone calls. And, believe me, they know seniors are more vulnerable !
I have tried every bit of advice from the phone co., FCC reports, DNC lists, telling a "human" to add my number to their DNC list, generic message on machine, shutting off all my ringers, etc. The amount we pay for phone service is not worth the aggravation. I just do not answer my phone anymore. l
The call I got at 10:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning was from 1-607-203-5573. ID showed V 20809434800052. Usually I won't answer calls that I don't recognize but this morning I did. My husband has health issues and finally seems to be resting well, I didn't want a call to disturb him. When I answered there was a mechanical sound and then silence. I hung up, got online to check out the phone number...and now I know I am not alone in getting this call.
