I just got a message from a number 607-216-8884 claiming to be IRS. The message recording was that of an Indian gentleman. It was hard to understand, but from what I gather he said "IRS" and "Immediate action" is necessary. When I returned this call, my cell phone location showed New York. Being self employed for over 20 years, I knew something was wrong about IRS in NY because there isn't one in NY. So please be careful and don't get alarmed when you get a call from this mysterious number. These guys are voice fishing to obtain money from you. It's a scam!
Got the same call, for my mother who has not worked in 15 years, IRS can't audit things past 5 years, plus, IRS always send in official document first not a phone call. IRS can not arrest you for things like owed tax, they can take you to court.
BEWARE!!!! Total scam. These people can barely speak English and cannot answer simple questions. Very annoying. They call around 8am every morning with the same scripted message. I asked them where they were located and he could not tell me. The guy who has been calling me says his name is Frank Watson, yeah right! Complete FRAUD!!!!!!
Got a call regarding my son from "Adam Spencer" who wanted to have my son return his call at extension 359. He claimed a serious tax matter. Obvious Indian/Pakistani accent.
