I just got a message from a number 607-216-8884 claiming to be IRS. The message recording was that of an Indian gentleman. It was hard to understand, but from what I gather he said "IRS" and "Immediate action" is necessary. When I returned this call, my cell phone location showed New York. Being self employed for over 20 years, I knew something was wrong about IRS in NY because there isn't one in NY. So please be careful and don't get alarmed when you get a call from this mysterious number. These guys are voice fishing to obtain money from you. It's a scam!
Immigrants! Ha! Great grandparents fought in 1776, & husband's family been here since 1800's. But yes have an "interesting" last name, and targeting immigrants is sooo not right. So I guess that's why I got the call. IRS problems, etc. sounded like guy was on drugs. Thanks to everyone for posting.
Got a call from a thick Indian accent guy - Joseph - that I have to call an investigator (Adam Spencer) to discuss my debt with the IRS. Before seeing this site, I kept calling the number 607-216-8884. But no answer or just a beep sound. Tried at least 7-8 times. I thought this could be related to me applying for a passport (which the Treasury checks your your debt before issuing you the passport).
Then I still get the [***] calling me that said why I didn't call the investigator yet. I kept telling him the number doesn't work. I hope this isn't those scam that have to call a number and then you get charged for calling that number!
I also got a call from 607 216 8884........... Left message that he was the IRS and that I needed to call him right away. He had a very heavy Indian accent that was hard for me to understand. He said there was legal action against me, and that I should not disregard this message. I think he's a scammer............he called from 607 216 8884......and line does not work. He said to call 706 241 2857 and he has a voice mail indicating he is the IRS. I pay my taxes, and this is not possible..............so I am informing the IRS about the scam too. I hope this helps someone else...............
A man with a heavy indian accent pretending to be from the IRS called several times this past week. When I told him that I knew he was a scammer, he started using bad language. Please beware of these A-Holes. File a complaint against them with the IRS. If you receive a call from an unknown number google it! The information about these people is all over the web
