We let the call go to voice mail. A woman's voice said that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against us. We should call back on a different phone # to address the problem. This would be a bad call for an elderly person to get.
Some dingbat with a middle Eastern accent just called here, saying he was from "Computer Maintenance" and I "have a problem" with my computer.
They seem to get *really* flustered when I ask them if they know I have a virus on the computer, they should know *what version of Windows* I'm using. Most of the time, they tell me they are "trying to save me a lot of money" instead but I tell them that if they cannot tell me what I'm using, it's a scam and they can go take a long walk off a short pier. I generally laugh at them too and then hang up. Not so satisfying with a cordless phone though.
I'm a home computer tech and if there was something truly wrong with my computer, I'd know it, or if I didn't, my brother would.
I'm in British Columbia and got a call after 9pm from 607-733-1419, call display said New York. It's against the law for telemarketers to call after 9 and I'm on Canada's do not call directory, but shady businesses aren't going to follow the law anyway. Dead air so I hung up.
Got a call from this number today and a female recorded voice pretended to represent the IRS. She said this call was to inform me that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me and I should immediately call a certain number.
THIS IS A SCAM. The IRS informs on its website that these scams are out there. Do not reply.
