I received a call from this number and feel left out. There was no voicemail message. I actually received the call on May 7th, 2015 at approximately 1:00 p.m.
I'm from North Carolina, and I got a call from 607-739-9799, today. The man that called, said his name was Steve, but spoke with a accent that was hard to understand. He claimed to be from Microsoft, and that he needed to help me " repair " my computer. He then told me to turn my computer on, and go to the run box. I started to ask " Steve " questions, like what is my name, and he said he didn't have that information, but did tell me what my street address was. He told me that he was calling from the UK, and that he needed to help me fix corrupt files on my computer. The caller ID showed the call to be from New York, and when I ask if he was in the UK, why did the caller ID show a New York number, he became upset and then hung up. I tried to call the number back, only to receive an error message.
i recieved a phone call from this # he said his name is nick from microsoft. and that I have a problem with my windows.said he spoke to a man yesturday yet it was my mother. wanted me to open my computer to prove he was not a scam. he also said he was from vancouver. i caught him in lies right away. we told him many times not to call back. this time i told him if he calls again i will call the police. lets hope they stop.
Same as above - asked to go to my computer - I asked him who he was calling - he had my name, address and postalcode - I asked where he got the info and he said when I bough my computer. Obviously a scam - I told him I was an IT director and wanted to know the IP address fo the computer he was refering to and coudl not answer. I told him I have his number and will report to the police.
The caller claimed to be from Microsoft Technical Support. I told him, "No you're not." and he hung up. The thing is, I was getting these calls repeatedly for a couple of weeks but the number was always blocked. FTC are you checking in to this?
Telephone companies need to permanently disconnect these callers. I never answer these calls but know that some do and some must get "duped" because these creeps keep repeating the same behaviours. I say, find the scum; cut out their tongues; and amputate their fingers. Or is that too little punishment?
