I totally agree. Call these idiots back but only do it from a blocked number. Harass the crap out of them. I told him that karma was going to bite him hard and he would rot in hell. You should have heard the crap spewing from his mouth. I told him karma would come and get him and unfortunately it will hurt some innocent person in his family. It was so funny to hear how mad he got.
They are [***] behind the phone , Calling from Somewhere in India or Pakistan . They use English names but they don't know how to speak English. My mom received a same call . My mom was sending them money through the bank account , When all of sudden we got the same call from other number , they told my mum that people she is talking are from different department and money which my mom sent was deposited in wrong account. So the other guys wants my mum to come with more money and send them in other account. I am IT guys. I am software developer . Gonna find this [***] anyhow and going to [***] them up really badly . They have mess with the wrong people this time .
2 automated phone calls from this number left on my answering machine today Monday, just 2.5 hrs apart. It got me nervous but also rang warning bells for these reasons:
1- they did not name who the message is for
2- the office hours stated were until 7pm which I thought not the norm for a government agency
3- the language used was not the usual from an agency such as CRA - like "the very second you receive this msg, contact Officer David Walker..." and "don't try to disregard this msg, return the call as soon as possible". The 2nd call was from a female automated voice which now specified it was from the CRA Tax Audit Dept with the same vaguely threatening msgs.
4- never received anything from CRA that were not in letter form in those brown envelopes.
I tried reverse phone look up for the number but it didn't come up and the CRA website contact numbers are all toll free.
I'm glad I listened to my slightly paranoid instincts and dug deeper. I got the messages too late to contact CRA (which close at 5pm like any typical govt agency LOL but will definitely follow up tomorrow.
It seems like whoever is behind this has been on a spree the past few days and has toned down from threatening police arrests to just vague ones of "must reply this second" I wonder what they will say once you do call this number back.
I am glad to find there are sites like these. We need all the help we can get it seems to protect ourselves from these kinds of schemes.
Just received the same message on my answering machine. Asking to call agent "Dave Walker", and saying not to disregard this message. They claim to be from CRA tax audit dept. I am sure it is a scam. Don't call them. They don't specify who is the message for. They hope we would be scared and call back right away, I am sure they want your money. DON'T CALL THEM.
