They call me too. Not certain how they get their reps out to people. Some sort of franchise operation I guess. Anyway, if they are Monotronics, I'd stay away from them. They always say they are in the "neighborhood" nearby and can they stop by and give you a "free" consultation. Never allow them on your property. Other people have reported you almost have to get the police out because they refuse to leave and their reps always come in pairs.
SPAM from Monotronics, 3rd party vendor to Buy.com - they got my number because I bought something on Buy.Com. READ the Buy.Com Ts & Cs before you say Yes, because there is a clause buried in there that says their 3rd party vendors can call you even if you are on the national Do Not Call list.
I did send a note to Monitronics and talked to a very nice representative from their Executive Response Team. Monitronics does not do telemarketing. They do work with many independent companies that do alarm systems but they are not supposed to telemarket and Monitronics is going to remind the dealers of that.
So, the next time I get a call about security systems, I am going to act interested and try to string them along and find out who they really are. And if they say they are from Monitronics, I will say that I have talked to Monitronics and they say they don't telemarket, so who are you really. I expect that will generate a hang-up but, if not, I will have a little more info.
It will take time, but we need to find out who is doing this and stop them.
