It's Comenity, not Community. The phone number is a REAL number for a REAL bank. It's the phone number for the credit problem division of Comenity Capital Bank (see other number and contact info below), who handles my MY POINTS VISA card. It's the number that showed on caller ID when they called me to let me know they resolved a dispute for me when a company charged my credit card w/o my consent. THEY WERE VERY HELPFUL in resolving my problem with LogMeIn.com who was auto-charging my credit card w/o my permission.

However, it may also be the same department that calls people regarding past due notices, so if you have past due bills they might legitimately be calling you. Or, if you have a new phone number and your new number use to belong to someone who was not paying their bills, of course it may seem like they are wrongfully harassing you, but I'm sure if you take the time to speak with them calmly and nicely about the fact that you are the NEW user of the phone number they will stop the calls. Just hanging up on them, yelling at them, or ignoring them will not work. I know this from past problems of this kind with a different collection agency that called me thinking I was someone else.

And, it's extremely important to note that it is now possible for scammers to make it look like they're calling from a legit number. Yes, scammers can in fact manipulate the caller ID system to make it look like they're calling from a different number that they are actually calling from. For example, they can be calling from a bar in Zimbabwe but make it look like they're calling from Comenity Bank, or they can even make it look like they're calling from your local police department. So you must be careful. If you're not sure they are who they say they are, and to be sure they are who they say they are, you should call the number back and/or call your bank or card issuer and ask if someone is supposed to be calling you.

I called Comenity or WFNNB (pick a name) due to receiving the start of another herd of calls to our home phone. In 2012 a clown from their harassment department made the last threat I was going to tolerate when he said they would keep calling me as long as they wanted. He did not care who the number was for. I called Ohio to a couple complaints, they contacted FDIC and they contacted Comenity and I received a letter (18 July, 2012) saying they were sorry. Sat. (12 July, 2014) at 8:35 AM they started calling again. Two different calls back to them asking if they were the previous company WFNNB calling under a different name and who and where their corporate offices were got me hung up on both times. The women who called me this morning was so careless, stupid, unprofessional or whatever, that she asked for a name I did not recognize. I read the letter and saw that she was asking for the employee who signed the letter to me! She had no idea of who she was calling but she was a 'Consumer Relations Specialist'.  These people have seem to have one purpose, harassment!

This is a real number for Comenity Capital Bank. They work with Credit Cards from several stores; Dress Barn, Christopher Banks...etc
If you moved or they have your wrong mailing address or for whatever reason you haven't been paying your bills, this company will be contacting you. After 5 months of bills not being paid it goes to a collection agency and this all affects your Credit Score.
I finally called the number back and found out that due to a move the address was never updated by them and therefore we haven't received any bills to pay them!   Call them before it's too late!

I tell them my name is Mike Hunt and they pause for a second, and suddenly hang up. I don't know why!

Late Sunday Sleeper
I was awakened by a call on my cell on Sunday morning. The caller claimed to be from Comenity Bank and that I was three payments behind on the bill. I explained to the "rep" that I just made the final payment and owed nothing. The caller explained that I opened the account Oct 2013 when I had just opened the account March 2014. She wanted the last three of my social security number to verify that I was the correct party. When I refused to give her that info, she kept putting me on hold and continued on with her script barely given me an opportunity to speak so I called that Ohio number on my home phone and the person said it was Alliance Data.

I told the "rep" I just called the number and received a different business name and therefore this conversation is over. If she believes her records are correct then they can bill me via email or post mail but I would NOT give my SS# over the phone to an unknown company when I know in fact I do NOT owe anything. She said they will continue to call me.

Just to cover myself, I called the 800 number for Comentiy Bank, which was closed, and requested a "0" balance letter to be mailed to my house. I have also blocked the Ohio number from my cell phone.

If you want to SEEM like a real business, don't call on a Sunday morning.
