I got a call yesterday for free home security. The last time, about 16 months ago, that I received these calls, I made the mistake of saying I was out of town and within 1/2 hour (based on letter carrier's and friend's reports, my house was robbed. It's a set-up to burglarize. I couldn't get the police to follow through on the witness's description or the phone number since it was only a burglary. No wonder crime shows on TV all have to do with murder!
Got a call from them today. SAid he is Steve calling from GE offering a free security system in exhange of putting up a sign in front of the house. I said yes of course - too good to be true - and asked him to send me the offer in the mail. Then he started to ask me for my name, etc. I said "nice try", and he just hung up.
I get calls from this numbers daily, just like the others. They don't talk and if I let it go to my answering machine they hang up. It's very annoying, which is their aim.
