With regards to your remarks about the time clock starting over on a debt.
In some states, if there is any action on an old debt, THE CLOCK DOES START AGAIN.
This is why they constantly plead with you to make a small payment, so they can legitimately reage the debt.
My advice, HANG UP !!! Your words can hang you.
I just read that article and this was one of their paragraphs .................... A collector isn’t allowed to call a cellphone unless the consumer provided that number to the original creditor when signing up for the credit card or loan. Even in that case, collection companies cannot use their preferred, and cheaper, automated dialing systems when calling a cell number.
Rather than doing the "hello, hello", use a whistle. I have gotten all kinds of calls from this Portfolio company for someone I don't know. The first time I answered they were very rude. After that, every time I get a long distance call from a number I don't recognize I answer with my whistle blowing loudly. Hope I blow out their eardrums.You can tell them hundreds of times to remove your number from their list and they just change numbers. I have many whistles and I keep one in my purse, my car and my desk at work. That way, I can respond whenever a call comes through. I never want to miss an opportunity to "blow the whistle" on them.
I wish someone would show up to my door.
I'd invite them in and stage the area like a robbery attempt after I blew off their heads and p1$$ed down their neck.
