No, they didn't go to ANYONE'S school. Nor would they come by yours - it's a NASTY scare tactic by these bottomfeeding SCAMMERS to get people to pay without asking questions. Debt collectors cannot "serve" you warrants or court summons, and it's illegal for them to tell you they can/will do so. They make it sound scary because they want people's money and don't want them asking questions before they get it.
Always get debt validation MAILED (not faxed, not e-mailed, not read to you over the phone, it must be MAILED!!) to you, don't just pay someone because they harass you.
What practices are off limits for debt collectors?
Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:
use threats of violence or harm;
publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
use obscene or profane language; or
repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.
False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:
falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
misrepresent the amount you owe;
indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren’t; or
indicate that papers they send to you aren’t legal forms if they are.
Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:
you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt;
they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or
legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take the action.
Received a personal call on my mobile adn work phone then messages threatening me. If I get more calls I will call a REAL attorney and play their same game.
I received a call on Oct 15th,2013,some information,about a lawsuit being filed against me,against a number rather,SS of,and i wasn,t sure whether he said Paula of somekind of,or paulette which i assumed he was speaking of me,but he accused me of working for the white house,and if i did,nt corporate,i would lose my job,now it is my knowing,or belief,i will say,that if that person is assured work for that place,if they have a bill issue,such as he was telling,put on them not to say,but send it to them,and they will pay it,he,s not to call me?he calls and program hisself and tell you where to meet him,not even,but go to thier work place and do the same,do you want to pay this?and they do the same,call you,the person that works there,and ask him or her how she,s what?going to pay it out,come by herself ,oh someone is just jokeing,stop playing with paulette please,she,s an angel.they just do it.now that,s the end.and he,s cased up.a fool right.and They won,t give me my bank account,i,ve asked them several times for some support not,but my paycheck,and they refuse,on a card i gave to them,and the justice area of thiers,and they refuse,with no answer why,knowing they were suppose to send me my pay out,i don,t work in thier with them the crew,i work elsewhere,but they are suppose to send out to me.so put,on the card,the direct deposit area i sent to them,so i can be okay,until they send out.now i,m going to tell something else,i don,t know it,s wrong or too much information,they are trying to pull a wagger on me,as if i,m some unintelligent being,now someone hollered through the air,that thing they got on,through them not,but thier justice of department of course not the justice department who has been asked to put on my card,as well as the white house have,but they got it on to holler at me,foolishness and let me be harrassed by others who want to i guess,but they hollered a clock number out,and i got that,but foolishness is out here,and i haven,t found anyone to do it yet,my checks up,which in a normal time might be hard to find,and the ones the hollerer said do some some times,i called,one said the wrong place they was,which might have been the truth and might not have been,the justice Hall area,which you can,t find if you look up,except a place or too,like a college,in the near area,they might be sitting out there too dumb to know they are classified in such an area,don,t know,but the air force base was the other area called out,that do some times,the woman that answered was ridculous,she knew not a word,of what was being said,what,what,s that?kind of ignorance,i went on,poor paulette,that,s the dumbness i have been faced with.they ought to beat them up,or [***] them and sling them up side the wall,somewhere,but i want the white house to put me at least,a months pay on that card i sent,or 2,until they can send out to me,my pay,or i can get,them out here to do,find a place.Thanks.will you do that for me,take them up on thier cornors and give to me,respect me as an empolyee.Thanks
I received a phone call from this number and they said they were from law firm. What they didn't realize is that they called me in September from 417-218-0805. They guy with the heavy foreign accent identified himself as the excact same person as with the number that called me in September, Anthony Miller. I said to him didn't you call me in September and try to run this scam on me and he hung up on me.
